Empowering Adults with Disabilities Through Meaningful Work

Our nonprofit partner Pawfectly Delicious Dog Treats  makes all-natural ginger dog treats, but the reason they do it is to create meaningful, paid employment for adults with disabilities.

Right now, their mission is critical to expanding meaningful, paid work opportunities for adults with disabilities.

In 2024, only 38% of working-age adults with disabilities were employed, compared to 74% of those without disabilities.

Even though we are seeing progress in those numbers over the years, there is still work to be done. This gap reflects real barriers like a lack of accommodations, inaccessible hiring practices, and persistent bias, to name a few.

We are proud to work with Pawfectly Delicious Dog Treats, a company creating meaningful  change through paid employment opportunities for adults with disabilities and through its efforts to raise awareness and advocate on these issues.

To help raise awareness, here are ways fellow employers can work toward creating a truly inclusive workplace and support adults with disabilities on their team:

   1. Create a structure to help reduce stress, and allow team members to show up at work confidently and comfortably. Predictability is key.

   2. Offer accommodations so employees can put their best foot forward at work. Often, simple adjustments and support measures have a big impact.

   3. Provide regular check-ins or mentorship opportunities to help create an inclusive culture of belonging. When all team members feel seen and supported, they’re more likely to thrive.
